A simple visual to explain the ‘unit’ of visual thinking
1. Elements
What are the essential elements within this concept?
2.Labels
How do we call them? Whether it’s a label or a known terminology, an agreed label can effectively refer to the same objects.
3. Connections
What are the relations between A and B? The visual power tool here is the arrow. Arrows play a huge role in depicting flow, causality, influence, and sequence. Are the connections direct or indirect? Are they uni-directional or cyclical?
4. The Scope: Drawing the Boundary
Within what conditions does this work? And more importantly, what is scoped out? It limits the conversation to the variables that matter.
5. The Environment: Grounding the Context
On what ground does this concept work?
Figuratively and literally. Not just the first principle that dissects the Why’s of many changes, the geological and cultural context has a profound influence to drive the transition.
